Episode 1:  Mutiny Aboard the Allspice Privateer

A tale of drunkenness, mutiny and disaster among a crew celebrating the 4th of July aboard a sailing ship at sea.


Episode 2:  OooLooLoo; The Mermaid of the Riding Rocks

A murderously funny tale set aboard a ship anchored in the Havana Harbor.


Episode 6:  Three Fingered Jacks (Part 1)

Aboard the brig Skyrocket the captain discovers a sailor who is missing his thumb and pointer finger.  When the captain demands the sailor tell how he lost his fingers, and we hear a tale of adventure and horror.


Episode 7:  Three Fingered Jacks (Part 2)

Is it possible ... two sailors aboard the brig Skyrocket with missing fingers?  And if it's so, how did these old salts lose their digits?


Episode 8:  Three Fingered Jacks (Part 3)

The captain is shocked to discover another crewman is missing fingers.  And again, the sailor regales the captain with a salty yarn full of adventure, thrills and horror as he explain how he lost his digits.


Episode 9:  Sea Dogs

If you love dogs and sea stories, you'll love this tale.  Sailors hunker down in the forecastle during a storm and tell exaggerated stories about dogs they've encountered aboard ships.  Some dogs are nasty curs and others are courageous heroes.


Episode 10:  Sailor's Revenge

A good Yankee sailor is mistreated by a nasty captain.  Years later the sailor exacts his revenge in the humblest way.


Episode 11:  Tom Dulany or An Irishman Taken in Tow

Tom Dulany's troubles begin when he flirts with a married Portuguese beauty.  Things only get worse when his ship is becalmed on the ocean and Tom decides to go for a swim.


Episode 12:  The Catamaran

Lucky Captain Cameron finds a beautiful castaway adrift off the coast of Brazil.  Who is this lovely maiden and how did she come to be lost at sea?


Episode 13:  Pirates of the Old Bahama Bank

The crew of the brig Horse Mackerel, desperately load cannons and distribute pikes, as a pirate ship chases them down.  Will they be boarded and murdered, or will they get away?


Episode 14:  The Impressed American

As a broken old wretch, Walter Grafton returns to his New Hampshire Village and reflects back on 25 years spent impressed (forced to serve) in the British Navy.


Episode 15:  Cutting Out Work for All Hands

This story gives new meaning to the term "high seas" when a drunk captain orders the crew to put up too much sail.  This episode also includes short book reviews of INTO THE RAGING SEA, the true story behind the sinking of the cargo ship El Faro by Rachel Slade, and BEACON 23 a Sci-Fi adventure thriller by Hugh Howey.


Episode 16:  Jack Hopkins; Circumstantial Evidence

A sailor on shore leave in Havana is accused of murder under questionable circumstances.  What will happen when he goes on trial?


Episode 17:  Calico Jack

The worst possible thing that can happen to a sailor happens to Calico Jack.  He falls over the side and is lost at sea.  What happens next is quite possibly one of the best sea stories ever told.


Episode 18:  The Widow Morrison (Part 1)

Who is the strange man living with the Widow Morrison, and what tragedy befell her ship-captain husband on his return voyage from Canton so many years ago?  Listen to this two-part story to learn the answers to these questions.


Episode 19:  The Widow Morrison (Part 2)

In the conclusion of this two-part story we discover the identity of the strange man living with the Widow Morrison.


Episode 20:  Jerry Marlinspike's Ride

This episode is all about sailors on horseback.  We have Jerry Marlinspike's Ride, a sea story in which a sailor goes for a horseback ride and brings along a small anchor, and a review of the Jack London biography written by Irving Stone entitled Sailor on Horseback.

A ship sailing from Rio de Janeiro to Boston encounters a hurricane near the Bahamas.  As they run away north to Boston, they encounter a blasting gale and a snow storm.  The captain and crew fight to save the ship and get around Cape Cod and into Boston Harbor.  (Part-1 of a 2-Part Story)

Sailors are superstitious.  But is whistling aboard ship bad luck?  Some claim whistling stirs up the breeze which stirs up the waves and brings on a storm.  In this tale we meet Whistling Jack and find out if there is any truth behind this superstition.  This is Part-1 of a 2-Part story.

After a long voyage, a sailor's heart longs to be home with loved ones, and that's what this story is all about..

 


Episode 31:  How to Raise a Breeze

Sailors will put with a lot of harsh treatment, bad food, lack of fresh water and long days of hard work at sea.  But sailor will not tolerate being becalmed at sea with no breeze.  This will lead to trouble and ultimately to madness among the crew.  Be sure to grab a copy of the short sea story, Making Peace With Japan by Malcolm Torres.  It's available on Amazon.

Episode 34:  Saturday Night Revels

Any good collection of sea stories has to have at least one tale where sailors get rip roaring drunk.  In this story, Saturday Night Revels, we get a double dose of alcoholic behavior, while officers get drunk in the cabin, the crew ties one on in the forecastle.
