It was included in a collection of short stories entitled Ocean Adventures published in 1857 by John S. Sleeper. Mr. Sleeper was a sailor when he was young, then he turned to journalism, and as a writer for a newspaper in Boston, he wrote occasional sea stories under the name of Captain Hawser Martingale. His stories were so well like, they were collected into this fine book. |
